How To Recognize The God-Given Desires Of Your Heart To Live Your Calling With Purpose & Passion!

Have you ever felt like you wanted to do something greatly but weren’t sure if it was something that God approved of or not?

Have you been told that Christians are supposed to do only a certain thing like preaching or reading the Bible while they should not participate in the arts and music?

If you have had difficulty figuring out if God approved of your desire to do something, it would be a good idea for you to look into what the Bible says regarding your own passions for life. In Psalms 37:4, it says “Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.”

God will give you the desires in your heart to pursue the things that you have a natural passion for. In addition when you are delighting yourself in God, those desires in your heart will be planted in your heart by God Himself.

The important thing to remember is that you must FIRST delight yourself in the Lord first before receiving the God-given desires of your heart. If you are focusing on God and living a life that glorifies God, He will provide you those desires of your heart that He wants you to step forward in.

However, if you are living a life of sin, you are not doing what God first calls you to do which is delighting yourself in the Lord. If you have not been walking with the Lord for a very long time, repent and delight yourself in Him again. As you do, you will begin to have passionate desires in your heart that are from God and that are aligned with & for His purpose. Thus, those desires are not something that God would be opposed to. Instead, those desires in your heart are passions that God wants you to step into. Instead of doubting and dismissing those natural desires in your heart, pray to God and follow through by taking action.

Obviously, you want to make sure that it is from God. So it is important for you to continue to pray to God as well as make sure those desires of your heart are aligned to the Word of God instead of being opposed to it.

Another interesting thing about your desires of your heart is that they will continue to come to you over and over again. Instead of it being fickle and temporary, you will realize those God-given desires of your heart will be in your heart for a very long time. Many times, you will notice those desires won’t seem to disappear. You may have been running away from God calling you to do something. Maybe you have been dismissing God’s call for a very long time.

And yet, God won’t give up you and He will continue to call you to do the work He has called you to do by planting that powerful and passionate fire that you have a natural longing and desire for. And when you do step into those God-given desires of your heart, you will be freed from battling between the uncertainty and the “what ifs.” In addition, if they are truly God-given desires of you heart, you will do well because God gave you those desires and talents to do the works for His glory.

Remember, your desires of your heart are there for you to glorify God for His purpose and not for yours only. Even though this may sound like you are not worthy, the true fact of the matter is that God knows more about what is truly best for you.

Thus, recognize your gifts and talents and desires and commit to taking that first step towards the call God has been placing deep within your heart and take action!
